Sun Horse, Moon Horse by BWS
""Sun Horse, Moon Horse" is a colorful and detailed celtic design of two winged horses - one for the Sun, one for the Moon. Knotwork designs surround and include them, with other intricate borders appearing on their bodies.

Above and below are wide borders with a design of interlaced dogs separated by the faces of the Sun (above) and Moon (below). The Moon shows her four phases across the border.

"Sun Horse, Moon Horse" is also the name of a powerful, short book by Rosemary Sutcliff; the book is about the nature of art and the nature of leadership, and the creation of the Great Chalk Horse of Uffington. This painting has no connection with that book other than its title."

The Dream by Spyrre
"Another surreal painting including dark backround, trees and a deer-like animal, based on a weird sketch that I drew some time ago. I kind of like it, even though I´m again in that position that I´m not sure if it´s finished or not.

Painted with oil.
Taking pictures of paintings is almost as frustating than painting the final touches on them. <_<"

Point Taken, Colored Version by Hapticmimesis
"Yay! Colors! :la:

So. This is... old now. I've been working (on and off) on a project since the beginning of summer, but I don't know if I'll ever actually finish it. :( So, in case it never comes out, here's the uncolored version of Point Taken [link] for all the kind people who asked for it.

P.S. The reason for the border: it's supposed to be a photograph. Should the finished product ever come out, you'll see why. :)

WOW. Thank you all so much for the kind comments and faves!! :iconiloveyouplz:"

Just Passing Through by brokendeathangel
"<< HOW TO READ: Follow the arrows people! You can do it!>>

So I wanted to draw Older!Kirk/Kirk!Prime because the 2009 Star Trek movie was lacking in the awesome TOS Captain Kirk. (How dare they!) Oh! And trying a different drawing style for the heck of it...

Somehow it ended up into this... this... thingy. >_>'

In my head, I think it would be so awesome if Older!Kirk did a search and rescue mission to retrieve Spock!Prime from the different dimension he's currently stuck in. Older!Kirk will somehow bump into Nu!Spock while searching for his space husba... I mean, BFF. No. Definitely his SO!... at the Starfleet base.

When Older!Kirk saw Nu!Spock all young and adorable and Vulcany-uptight, of course he can't resist teasing him by giving him a teeny-tiny, sneaky, surprise Vulcan kissy when he passes by him!

And Nu!Spock goes all "Shock!Blushy-blushy!Whaa?!" and can sense Older!Kirk's HUGE lovey-dovey feelings for... him?!

But then! Before Nu!Spock can react due to being distracted by Nu!Kirk, Older!Kirk sneaks off like the BAMF that he is. (Probably LOL-ing at poor Nu!Spock confusion. DAMMIT JIM!)

Thus, leaving Nu!Spock forever confused and... falling in love with...

...Older!Kirk?!

OMG! THE DRAMAAAAAAAAA! And then a love triangle of some sort between Nu!Kirk-Nu!Spock-Older!Kirk happens. The fight for Nu!Spock's Vulcan heart between Nu!Kirk and Older!Kirk shall commence! WHO WILL WIN?!!

I DON'T KNOW! Lolololololololol!

WHAT THE HELL AM I WRITING HERE MAN?!

SHUT UP BRAIN! Just..... Shuushh!

....

Ok... imma go to bed now. :iconotlplz:"

Where Dreams Come From by hbruton
"This commission is for a nifty project that you can read about here [link] This concept painting is for the animation, "Where Dreams Come From". I really hope the projects get done as I like the story. And how can I not like a story that has winged horses in it as well as nightmare horses. This pic was a delight to do:) How could I go wrong with the subject matter!

Sunset Shadow by charfade
"“What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.”

I sketched this lion in class and decided to scan and upload it with a sunset-ish background. I painted over parts that I felt it needed to stand out."

Artist of the Month: Pika-la-Cynique

Pika-la-Cynique is one of the artists who found inspiration in AsheRhyder's Roommates doujinshi. Pika-la-Cynique has created Girls Next Door which is from a slightly different point of view though the cast is essentially the same. Both comics work wonderfully with each other.

Here is the first page of Girls Next Door:
"A whole new year of insanity begins!
Presenting the Girls Next Door (well, technically they're upstairs but I liked the name better) ... that is, the girls' side of the Roommates story.

Roommates, starring Jareth, the Phantom of the Opera, Commodore (or Admiral) Norrington, Javert and supporting cast all living in modern apartments and driving one another up the wall is a fancomic by the wonderfully talented and hilarious :iconasherhyder: Go forth and read it, if thou hast not yet done so.

After expressing my boundless admiration and love of the strip, I begged permission to try my hand at a pendant comic... with, naturally, Sarah and Christine in the main roles.

The few times they've appeared in Roommates, the girls have been a sensible, civilizing influence, and stood as a united front against the silly boys.
Expect a lot more craziness and bitching to be going on in their own apartment.

Here's the first one. This is up as a test - please question and critique away and let me know your thoughts on legibility, etc... I'm wondering whether it's worth me inking these, if I have the time...
I have loads of ideas scribbled down, but I'll be very open to suggestions.

This is a work of fanart, and solely intended for shits and giggles. No money is being made by this.
Sarah (c) Henson, Lucas and Connelly.
Christine (c) Leroux and Webber.
Based on an idea by ~AsheRhyder "

Gold stands for Change by Arsillyd
"There are two Days in which the colour of Akash Dragons + accessories turn to Bright Gold. The solstice days of the year Which mark the change of the "sun movement". For Akash dragons, this is a very special and holy day, in which they celebrate the Change of the sun, and the close bound between other universes which is the closest on the solstice days. Because Akash dragons are very contected to different universes, their colours changes to into Gold. this colour lasts for a couple of hours, and at the end, to honour the sun, they create a golden aurora and with this ritual, the gold fades away into the sky. Akash dragons believe that this ritual is one of the many engines which give change and wind to the world.

... I'm pretty active lately ^^" actualy, the story I told above realy wasn't inside my head when I drew this couple of months ago... but I've just finished a coloured drawing, and was playing with some textures and settings, and suddenly, I got this crazy, awesome effect, and I was like, OMG!! ARSILLYD looks AWESOME in gold!! but since I'm realy bounded with the blue, I decided to come up with a story in which the Akash dragons sometimes changes colours!! XD I just LOOOOOOOOOOve fantasy!!

And so, the Solstice festives are born!! XD

it's realy bad that you guys don't see the original colours though ;-( cus, they're great too! I'll post the original version perhaps later if you realy wish to see it! ^^

alright guys, for a few weeks, I might not be around my acount (was that now a lazy rhyme??? O_o it's getting late) but anyhow, the next weeks are going to be though... and evry minute will go to school and other shitty things that I need to take care of. after that, I'll go with my school to Berlin! XD if there are people who want to say hi to me in Berlin within 4 weeks or so, please let me know!! that would be soooo awesome! (I do warn you though that my deutch is realy crappy!)

Stone Dragon 07:Turquoise Dawn by rachaelm5
"Seventh in an ever-growing series of dragons whose colors are based on precious and semi-precious stones.

Turquoise is another one of my favorite stones - anything from an almost yellowy-greeny-blue to that deep azure-turquoise blue: I wanted to get a bunch of different tones of turquoise into this picture.

I wasn't sure that the gold linework would work originally, but I thought I'd try it to see what would happen. I ended up being quite pleased with the effect. I usually see silver and turquoise jewelry, but I think the gold really sets off the blues and greens as well. :D

Prismacolor pencil, gold paint pen, and Photoshop tweaking."

Once Upon a Time In a Forest by Kaytara
"This one is freaky - I started it in October a YEAR ago and actually nearly finished it... apart from the grass and the water on the bottom. That, and the rest had been done on the old monitor, so it was a rather searing acidic green. One of the MANY things I had to fix when I got back to this a few days ago at a family member's forceful insistence. ^^
I didn't change much of the background I had already painted save for some minor colour and blending issues, so I'm not as satisfied as I could be with this piece, but oh well, I've been itching to finish it for a year. ^^ Enjoy. :D"

Run, Shin 2010 by Shinerai
"So I hink this is my fourth Shinerai run animation. I was kinda doing them a year apart, but then I kinda failed and didn't do one for a while. Due to the loss of several hours of work on a commission, I haven't been entirely motivated to draw a real piece and saw a redline I did of a friend's run animation a while ago in my Photobucket. I decided why not make a new run for Shinerai, then!

I don't know what it is with me and run animations, but they're fun c: It's a shame I didn't finish my zyxmet one. I'm not overly concerned with how small the image is since this is technically a WIP. I hope to EVENTUALLY Detail it a little more and color it. But for now I'm pretty tired of drawing the same thing over and over again so I doubt it'll happen soon.

anyway, Shinerai are belong to me. downloading wont make it bigger.

[EDIT] I guess explanation on the way I drew it. There are several different types of runs in the real world, I chose this type of run since I imagine Shinerai to be more of a bounder than a galloper. He's got some pretty long back legs so I figure a lot of the power from his run comes from those throwing him forward, so I wanted a good amount of air-time though I think it could have used another frame. All and all this animation is pretty slow and 4-5 frames more than I usually do for a run cycle, but I liked it and didn't really want to do the tweening I'd need to if I deleted a frame. So there."

Artist of the Month: AsheRhyder

AsheRhyder is the creator of a doujinshi titled Roommates that combines The Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings, House, Doctor Who, Labyrinth, and on and on.  It is incredible the way she has managed to blend the various universes into an incredibly fun read. I am increasingly impressed by her style and have enjoyed watching her shading techniques change overtime.

Here is the first page:
This comic actually prompted two others Girls Next Door by Pika-la-Cynique and Down the Street byHeroesDaughter.

Most of AsheRhyder's work can be found here http://asherhyder.deviantart.com/
